Overview of The Bears' Picnic: Berenstain Bears Book
The Bears' Picnic: Berenstain Bears is a children s story. The main characters in this story are three bears, a father bear, a mother bear and a baby bear. The story is in the form of a poem which describes the various challenges that the three bears face when they set out to find a spot where they can enjoy a picnic. The Bears' Picnic: Berenstain Bears begins with the papa bear telling the mama bear to remove her apron, because he s going to take them for a picnic. He promises to take his wife and son to the best picnic spot in the world. All of them get ready to go for the picnic. The papa bear had already thought of a spot, the one that him and mama bear used to go to before they got married. That picnic spot holds so many memories which are very dear to him, which is why he thinks it is the best spot in the world. Unfortunately, over the period of time that has passed since they last visited that picnic spot, it has changed drastically. A train which creates a lot of smoke passes near the picnic spot. The papa bear is unwilling to accept the fact that his spot is no longer perfect. He becomes adamant and is unable to see the truth in front of him.The papa bear is impetuous and he leads the family from one mess to another in the search of the perfect picnic spot, leading them to a big picnic hosted by noisy and gruff animals, a trash site, into the glide path of an airplane and a lightning storm. Papa bear, in his quest for the perfect picnic spot, takes his family on an adventure they would rather forget. The Bears' Picnic: Berenstain Bears by Stan Berenstain and Jan Berenstain is a poem that was written for young children. It emphasises on Papa Bear s mistakes and shows through example that one should always analyse the situation instead of randomly moving forward. The book was published by UK Children's in 2012, it is the rebranded edition. It is written in English and is available in paperback. It is meant for children between the ages of 3 and 7.
